I think you could try this at home and then go about having a facial. The thing is with a facial it's something you should do often. ($) so try this at home and see if it helps.
Find a pure and natural soap if you have very bad acne get Oxy wash. Before washing get a clean wet wash cloth and heat it in the microwave for a few seconds. Leave on face and repeat (heating it) - wash face. Apply a toner - you can get witch hazel and dab a little over your face and let dry. (instead of the oxy pads try this first).. if this doesn't work apply acne cream or oxy pad (stridex)..
You also need a good cream - to help moisturize - but do not use anything with mineral oil. [hardens sking]
A face mask once a week and exfoliate twice a week too (on difft. days).
Stick to a regime for a week or two if it helps super if not see a specialist. :)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the exact same problem. You should know that you can't perminently cure acne a.k.a. pimples, but you can treat them. Your pores get clogged up with bacteria which causes acne to form. The best way is to use warm water and facial wash. Then use a facial toner that cleans and closes up your pores to prevent more breakouts. You can use certain types of acne fighting products. Me, I like to use Clean&Clear, and it helps. But before you go off buying dozens of products, you should see a dermatologist first. They will prescribe you either a medicated cream or a pills you can take orally. Just to let you know: whatever you use for your acne (facial wash, medicated cream, or oral medication), it will make you breakout at first. But just to let you on a little secret that really helped me: "Things have to suck to get better." I know it probably doesn't make sense, but it's true. One last thing, don't try to pop them. It just makes it worst and takes longer for whatever you're using to fix it. It's like sticking a jackhammer to your face. If you continue to pop them, it will leave scars. So, honestly, I think you should see a dermatologist instead of going to a spa. A spa won't help clear your acne. It may feel good and relaxing, but it won't help with acne. Good luck and I hope my answer helps with your situation.

Start with a deep cleaning facial from the spa and follow up with what a dermatologist would prescribe which is:
Benzoyl Peroxide (either a pan oxyl bar or the cream)
Lactic Acid moisturizer (like AmLactin)
Possibly an antibiotic gel (like neosporin)
And maybe retin-A (by prescription)

Facials sometimes cause breakouts. You have to be careful if you have sensitive skin or the kind that's prone to breakouts. I'd recommend that you see a dermatologist. They could prescribe something that dries out pimples and blackheads, and offer you some helpful advice on the best cosmetic brands for your skin and the ones to avoid.

They have a generic brand of proactive at target (and getting a facial at the spa would help but the pimples would eventually come back because when you get a facial you are just relaxing your skin and then sooner or later you will get stressed out and the pimples will come bk.

Girl, don't waste the $80 on an acne facial! I got one and all they did was wipe my face clean and put oxygen on it! what a waste!!!! The dermatologist may be able to help, but what works best for me and is no fail everytime is going to the tanning beds. It clears it right up, and I glow!

i think you need both.
a dermotologist will prescribe you medication like good cleanser with creams that will do wonders to your face. but at the same time facials do help in removing the unwanted stuff off your face...and sometimes unclog the things in your pores, before they turn into pimples after being infected...
so you should do both... i know its a lil expensive to do both but beauty has a price...
stay beautiful!

Exfoliate every two or three days with a realy good scrub. I live MaryKay microderm abrasian! But even a sugar scrub would help. Don't use salt, too drying. Make sure to follow with an oil free moisturizer or you will get realy dry and peel. Good Luck!

I recently read that you can take an aspirin and crush it to a powder. Add a drop or 2 of lemon juice, just enough to make a paste and apply. The acid in the juice and something (I forgot) in the aspirin will make it go away quite fast. Good luck.
