I was farsighted and they corrected one eye so I wouldn't need reading glasses anymore. Well, it's been a week and my eyes are still confused. They can't see to read well enough without glasses and when I put reading glasses on I get a headache. I feel I may have made a mistake. How long does it take for eyes to adjust? Days, weeks, months??

Everyone has a different time frame for adaptation to monovision. Did you do a trial with contact lenses first? If so, you may adapt more quickly. Often, the adaptation process can take 1-3 months during which the final prescription is settling in after your procedure. The reason you are getting headaches with reading glasses is that one eye, being corrected for near by the surgery is overpowered with the reading glasses. What you may need eventually are reading glasses with a prescription for only your distance eye (this would balance the eyes properly). I would try to stay positive at this point, give it some time, but make sure you mention this to your O.D. or M.D. as they can give you better information based on their knowledge of your case. Good luck!
