I happened upon a for sale add for this barrel. It is stainless steel, ported, has a simmons scope mounted on it, and it has a forend. I don't know the length of barrel or the power of the scope but the barrel appears to be custom. Any thoughts?

Is it a pistol barrel or carbine barrel ? They came from the factory in 10", Super 14, super 16 and the carbine 21 or 23 inch . There were also barrels from SSK, Bullberry and Foxridge in about any length configuration you'd want. Barrels usually run around 200. The forends are about 25-40 depending on type and the area your in. Scopes should not be counted in the price. Because resale value for scopes is almost nill, the blue book doesn't take them into account. The round only had one or two factory loads, not sure if they are still in production. Reloading is you best bet, this was a very accurate round for me with Speer 130grain spitzer boat tails. It makes a very nice deer, hog or antelope cartridge. And just to let you know, in case this is your first. The Encore barrels and frames are NOT interchangeable with old Contenders or the new G2 Contender. The Old Contender barrels will fit the New G2. The frame of the Encore, Contender and the G2 are not made for a specific barrel length as stated above. All barrels made for wich ever frame you have, will fit regardless of barrel length.

new the barrel would go for 225 +40 for porting + 20-100 depending on type of simmons +25-40 depending on type of forearm so Ya its a deal if all new, used... ebay 7-30's have been going for about 160-180 (hand gun barrel) 180-200 (rifle) unported. Scopes and fore arms may add another 75 bucks.

If I were buying it, Id offer 250-260ish but if its what you want get it.

That price appears to be on the high side for a contender barrel, but this one has a scope and forend...so I'd say it's on the right side of a 'good deal'.

More then likey it's a Super 14 and if you don't have a Super 14 frame the barrel combo will do you no good.

I think the price is on the hi side scope or not because, ammo will be hard to find and maybe that is why it for sale.

I myself would pass on this.
