You cannot have a creditor removed from your credit report unless it was on your account by mistake and it was not your debt. Just because you pay a bill to a creditor off, does not mean it goes away. It only shows a paid staus code as opposed to an arrears code such as R60 or R90 or R120. The debt history for the last year for each debt will still be there for potential creditors such as mortgage lender to see on review. Your fighting a battle you cannot win.

I agree with Sane that this is a battle that you can not win. But whoever told you that your mortgage loan was denied just because this is not telling you the truth.
Your credit is affected for many reasons. Only one account will not be the reason to deny a loan. Also, if it shows in your credit report 3 times, usually it's because you have it with 3 diff bureaus (Transunion, Equifax and Experian) and each one has a diff account number. It will affect your fico only once.
Talk to your broker, ask him exactly why was your loan denied. Maybe it's because your credit score is too low, not exactly because this only account. I am a broker in CA if you need help.

Have you tried writing to the credit bureaus. I bought these programs that have helped me get stuff off my report. And taught me how to raise my credit score in just a few months. You might want to check them out. The cost some but have been worth it. http://www.comingbackstrongfinancially dot com. They will show you how and what form and letter to write to get it off your report.

Contact the collection agency, that information was sent to. In any situation when you are trying to clear up your credit report, it is always best to pay the collection agency to get your information cleared.

If not that, find a financial consultant or a credit report agency and see if they can clear up your situation.

The best of luck my friend.
