i met a guy for the first time and he took me and my friends out to a nightclub. he paid for everything. he complimented me all night problem is i havent heard from him (since that night, he called to make sure we were home safely). does the 3 day waiting rule apply to men in their 30's and 40's. hes not an aggressive person he seems real calm and cool he mentioned once about there being a next time but did not askd for another date or even say when we would see each other again. what should i do?According to the "He's Just Not That Into You Rule, I dont think i should call him. i think i should move on.

I think it is too soon to tell. That age range they are not really playing the field, they are just taking time to make sure that you are compatible on different levels. Plus he may just be busy. Don't call him but try to arrange to accidentally see him out again. Then make your move - you ask him out.

I think "rules" like the 3 day rule are pretty useless. If everyone followed one of those dating guides, we'd all be sitting around waiting for people of the opposite sex to call us.

Maybe he was interested in you but didn't think you were into him. If he's not a very forward person, it's possible. If he gave you his number or his email, then get in touch with him and followup on some conversation you had before. Either he'll be delighted to hear from you, or he'll be polite but disinterested, in which case you probably won't see him again, so no harm done.
