Kitten will be a female, either grey with a white patch, or a tabby looking one. i want unique names, not names that are used over and over again. thanks.

There are a lot of great resources online if you look. There are pages for baby names, pet names, potential character names that authors use, etc. If you want something really unusual, try historical or mythological names - you can find pages for those as well. Just do a google or yahoo search for them. They've been useful for me when I was looking for names.
Make sure you take into consideration the personality and temperament of your cat. Don't name her buttercup if she's bold, tenacious, or aggressive, for example. And as someone else said, the kitten will eventually be a grown cat, so take that into consideration as well.

A very cute name for a kitten would be- 'Cookie'. Depending on what color the kitten was you could get more specific about could use 'Oreo' if she was black and white or 'Chip or Chippy' if the kitten was brown and white or ' Snap or Snappy' for a ginger-colored kitten.

We just got a new one (muted tortie) and named her Tempest. :) Here are my cat names (in case you like any): Bagheera, Onyx, Zephyr, Tempest, Shelby, Mouse (he was the runt of a litter), Malous and Binx.
