If the male weighs 6 lbs., and she weighs 3, he's twice her size. Most vets/breeders recommend that no female of a Toy breed (i.e. Chihuahuas) be bred to a male larger than herself.
I'm not a Toy person, so I can't speak to that. But I will ask you this:
1. Think seriously about why you want to breed her. If she's your baby, would you honestly risk her life in order to hopefully get another one like her? Are you willing to deal with the cost and stress of the C-section that she'll more than likely have to have?
2. If you truly do want "another one just like her", consider going back to her breeder and getting a puppy from one (or both) of her parents, or a close relative. Dogs very rarely produce carbon copies of themselves.
3. Links you should check out before you decide:

4. Genetic health problems common to the Chihuahua:

Are you willing to clear your girl of these before you breed?

it would be unwise to breed her to a larger male, most toy breeders breed a smaller male to a larger female as the larger the female the less likely she'll have birthing problems. You need to ask the breeder you got her from to see if her dam had birthing problems and how big was her dam, the same small size? Does your chi have an apple head? if so her pups may have large heads and require a c-section. I say find out her dams history first as some toys are prone to mummy pups or only 1 live pup, then find a good vet as you may need to have a vet assistence with the birthing process, find a smaller sire unless the 6 pound guy just has alot more bulk. So if her dam is her size with good birthing history I say it may be ok, if her dam is heavier or had any problems i say just purcash another pup from the same breeder.

Why would you want to? I know its seems like fun and the puppies will be cute and all that, but over a million dogs and cats are euthanized in the this country every single year for the simple fact there are too many and not enough homes. I urge you not to contribute to that.

No, there are TONS of unwanted chihuahua's already, why add to that and risk her life at the same time?? Spay her like you should.. If you really care about her, you wouldn't risk her health just to create more of what already fills the shelters...

that is a very hot topic on this forum. there are so many dogs out there that need good homes, & even more dogs that don't get those homes & are euthanized because of it, not to mention the countless dogs (& cats) that are still stray.
My personal opinion is don't breed your dog, get her fixed. Give a dog that is already in existance a chance to lead a better life with someone who will love & cherish them.
Don't contribute to the overpopulation of dogs & cats on this planet.

I say yes. Just make sure to make regular check-ins with the vet. He/she will be able to see that the puppies are growing at the right pace. If she were to have only two puppies, they could grow too large and the vet would need to do a C-Section. If you maintain her pregnancy in the right manner, the chances of tragedy will be minimal.

Yes it could kill her.
As even with humans child birth is dangerous. However; the smaller breeds do have more complications.

no
1) your dog is under standard weight....which means she's no breeder
2) the male is standard size....and may produce too large of puppies for her to handle
