ROLLOS
why not make your own candy wrappers!

Go onto ebay and look up candy wrappers and after a few clicks you should be able to find out what I am talking about, dont bid on those just look so you have an idea on how to make them yourself.
you can personalize them too...I also saw a 'matchbook' that had a lifesaver in it instead of the matches. It was a cute keepsake from the event as it too could be customized. IT looks as if it is something that you could create yourself.

Werther's Original I know come in gold wrappers...or Reese's cups...but you would have to pick out the ones in gold wrappers...I'm sure there are more, but that's what I can think of!

Lindt truffles (some of them have gold wrappers)

or

Ferrero Rocher - indivisually wrapped in gold foil with a nice dark cup on the bottom (perfect for gluing to a foam form). Often available in unique gift boxes.

Definitely the Ferrero Rocher. I'd be embarassed to put out Werther's as a centerpiece! (Maybe in a dish by the door...but not on the table!!) The Rochers have a fancy look and are yummy too!
