My hair had some dead and split ends, so I got a couple of inches taken off and had layers put in. The ends look much better but my hair seems much more coarse. I've maintained layers in the past (never cut with a razor), but I've never had this problem. It was smooth and healthy-looking before, but now it is wiry and won't curl well. What's going on? Is it because she used the thinning shears?? How do I fix it?

razor or thinning shears? you mention both. razor can frizz the ends if the person handling the razor doesn't know the finer points of cutting with a razor. I have been training for years with it, and trust me, you really need to know it to do a really good job. Its why not just anyone is allowed near me with one. ! Also, the same hold true with thinning shears, but I don't think they should harm your ends. the one thing I am really thinking is your stylists shears, and or thiining shears need sharpened. This may result in a rough cut. I would go back and explain whats going on and see what they recommend. Obviously I can't feel or see your hair, so I can't give you much more than that and wouldn't expect anyone else to either.

It sounds as though you've had a bit of a dogy hairdresser. Maybe you just need to get your hair back into good condition again, so try some hair treatments and switch your shampoo and conditioner to something that it suited for dry and damaged hair, Lee Stafford is good, as is Redken and Kerastase.

If a hair dresser uses thinning scissors on you that is your signal to never go back. A good hairdresser should be able to thin out your hair without using thinning scissors.

Minimalise blow-drying and hot irons, but when using these items always use heat protection spray.

Supplement Silicon and Vitamin B Complex to maintain healthy hair, but also skin and nails.

The same thing happened to be a few years ago and the only thing that really helped was getting it trimmed again and asking the stlyist to give me a slight trim with a blunt cuts and insteads of layers a blend so the my hair could look even and curl better and just a though but it has been said that when you get your hair cut on the new moon it grows faster who knows I would try it

Try a cholesterol hair pack or VO 5 hot oil treatment.Thinning shears would not have anything to do with it. The difference between a good hair cut and a bad one is about 2 weeks, you should see the differeance then. In the mean time don't panic.

As we get older our hair changes. I never used conditioner for 20 years. Now if I dont use it, I cant get a comb through my hair. The change seemed to happen over night! Try an intense conditioner like Pantene Restorative Care. Also look into Infusium 23 Leave In Treatment Repair and Smooth lotion. Works great for me!

u should consult to a hair expert or when u shampoo ur hair just put a LITTLE in ur palm and mix it with water coz some chemicals of shampoo can decrease it's moisture, so u really need to apply a conditioner every day and brush ur hair with a wide teeth comb first before u use the thin teeth comb and 1 more thing, stop harassing ur hair thru styling it everyday, hair needs a rest too...

Change your conditioner it doesn't sound like the one you are using isn't doing your hair any good. Try something like Dove conditioner or Pantene although Pantene is not good for some hair types.

Try using some deep conditioner on your hair and see if that'll help.

Quick! Back to the barber before he empties the trash, and bring some glue!
