When they say common cold, they mean it is the cold that is most occuring. There are actually thousands of colds out there, it's just 107 of them are more commonly found than the others

No, it means (if true) that you can have only 107 TYPES of colds.

If there were only 107 car models, that wouldn't mean you could only have 107 cars, it would just mean there were only 107 types of cars you could have. You could, of course, have them all and have them again, or just one type over and over and over.
