For the past two days I have been experiencing pain on the right side of my neck. It hurts when I turn my neck or move my head up or down. I tried taking some pain relievers and even putting a hot pack on the area to soothe it but none of this worked.

I would suggest you go see a chiropractor who will take a full history and do some orthopedic/neurologic tests to determine what is wrong. They may also want to take x-rays. From your symptoms it sound like you have a muscle or joint problem that can easily be helped through chiropractic care. I know its only been a couple of days, but I wouldn't wait too long because the longer you have the problem, the longer it will take to fix.

it sounds like a pulled muscle, but also in women a pain that develops in the neck can also be a sign of heart attack, your best bet would be to go to the doctor and let him dx you. you have already tried home methods that do not seem to help, you may need a muscle relaxer to help relax, good luck.

Try stretching your neck as much as you can even though it'll hurt. Keep hot pads on it and maybe a hot bath, letting it soak. Good luck!
