Because dogs like to have jobs...Teaching them tricks can seem important to some dogs who have no other purpose than being a pet. They get to spend time with there human and they are doing something they enjoy.Whats wrong? You don't want to spend time with your pet and both you enjoy it?

Many breeds ENJOY the mental stimulation. I was just watching a documentary the other day and there was a guy who owns 2000 sheep and he raises Border Collies to be shepherd dogs. He said "If you want to be cruel to the dogs, DON'T give them a job. IT will break their heart."

My dogs enjoy learning new things and spending time with me one-on-one. They like the treats, too.
