The kind of beer I like, when I go out to a restaurant or something, is typically Shiner Bock. It's full bodied, and has taste. And there's usually some of that in my fridge. My favorites, which are lots stronger are the lines of German beers, although I'm not a real fan of the DARK beers. Hofbrau Original is really good, and I've given it 3 stars. I also like the German wheat beers, like the Paulsners. The Dunkel line is good; Lowenbrau Dunkel, Warsteiner Dunkel, and Erdinger Dunkel Weisen. I don't know how available those would be in CA, but here in Texas you can't buy any of those in stores, only in specialty restaurants.

Definitely try Widmer Hefeweizen. It is an excellent wheat beer that you should be able to get at any grocery store in San Diego. It is also usually on tap at most restaurants. A lot of people drink it with a slice of lemon or orange to liven up the taste although it tastes great without it. If you are looking for a beer that isn't dark, hoppy, or bitter, this is a great one to try!

there is a great micro brewery in kalamazoo michigan called Bell's. they have a summer brew called Oberon. it's by far the best wheat beer i've ever had. it's alot like blue moon but better. a little twist of orange in it really balances the strong hops. i'm not sure if bell's is available in california, but try to find it.

try Lone Star and Shiner Bock, two Texas favorites.
All snobs like Shiner, but not all Shiner drinkers are snobs.

Guinness Extra Stout, Guinness Stout, Guinness Extra Cold and Guinness Foreign Stout are the best. I have fallen in love with my Guinness and have yet to be disappointed.
