I have a check card(debit) with the mastercard logo on it. Sometimes they run it as a debit and sometimes as a credit card. As long as it has the visa or mastercard logo, can I rent a car with it?

It depends on the rental car company. The larger companies like Hertz & Avis will not accept debit cards, unless it is for payment. The smaller companies like Alamo, Dollar, Budget, and Advantage may accept debit cards, but they may hold anywhere up to $500 on your debit card. So I would proceed with caution on renting, unless you have the money in your checking account to cover it.

Yes, you can rent a car.

They will put a hold on most of your funds, though.

Call the company in advance and tell them that you will be renting a car using a debit card with a Mastercard logo. Find out how much they mark on the card, since you won't be able to use those funds.

You sure can. I think you can do with about every car rental, but for sure I know that Enterprise and Budget excepts check/debit cards.

Peace.

Some rental agencies put a "hold" for the deposit. This means you need that amount in your account to cover the charge and won't have access to the money until they release the hold. Just make sure you have enough in your account to cover that amount.
