Orthodoxy is defined as true or correct teaching.

Good luck with your class. I have listened to many speeches Brian McLaren has given and the guy struck me as being the epitome of Liberal Protestantism with a dash of Evangelicalism. Problem is, the people that listen to him or attend their church don't really have a basic understanding of Christian Church History or American Religious History to know that this stuff is just re-hashed liberalism that wrecked protestantism and was a reaction to fundamentalism (sound familiar?)

The word "orthodox" literally means "correct faith". In Judaism, Orthodox is the branch that adheres strictly to tradition. There is also the Orthodox Church, although I do not know what it is or why it is different from other branches of Christianity.
Orthodoxy is also used in a secular sense, meaning the rigid adherence to a certain mindset.
