I would like to buy a lens for my wifes new camera. She would like to have a lens that takes better pictures from far away. She has the 50mm-80mm lens that comes with the camera, but would like to upgrade. I have around $500 to invest. I am not even sure if this is enough. I think she would like to be able to take pictures from about 50 feet away. Help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have always found inexpensive quality to be an oxymoron, but, I have had good results using less expensive lenses form Sigma and Tamron. I personaly have not tried the others that are out there. Lenses are like anytyhing else, you get what you pay for. My nikon 80-200 /2.8 ed-if lens helps me produce a photo that would be impossible with my 70-300/4.5 g lens. Although they are both nikkor lenses at simalar focal legnths the 80 - 200 is hundreds of dollars more than the other, and the difference is cost shows in the final product, the photo.

If I even could be sure out of your record, i could take: -Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8-4 DG intense % Zoom Autofocus Lens -Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Autofocus Lens Sigma is solid lenses. I have use them at the same time as i exploit Nikon. yet now I have canon and use as a rule canon lenses. The sigma 28-70mm grant you with a quicker lens evaluate to the Tamron 28-80mm. which could account for the fee distinction. yet, i'm assuring you that the time-honored in photo and outfitted is totally not as solid because the canon L lenses.
