Go have fun - your boss invited you for a reason - don't be selfish it's their day.

Not dancing - not a big deal (you might even change your mind once you see what a good time everyone else is having???).

Food - of course - wedding receptions are famous for big deal food events.

It will either be a sit down dinner service, brought directly to you from a waiter who will take your order).

Or buffett style - where you go up and pick out as much food as you wish as many times as you wish.

Enjoy the wedding!

Not all receptions will have food, but the invitation should give you some hint about that. Eat a solid lunch, as if dinner is served it could arrive as late as 7 or 8pm.

I would suggest going to the wedding and declining the reception, myself. But if you do go to the reception, you can stay through dinner and the cake-cutting, and then excuse yourselves before any of the other festivities start. Dancing can be at any point during a reception, depending on how the hall is set up.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here, you've never been to a wedding before?

Typical itinerary for a reception almost always includes food. That's the point. Dancing isn't until towards the end of the reception. There are many activities that the bride and groom participate in before they even get to the dancing. You don't sound like you wanna go. Take my advise don't go. Your negativity will be all over your face.

The wedding itself is a service, usually a religious one. The reception is the party to celebrate, usually with food, alcoholic beverages, and music. Go to the reception, but don't consume too many alcoholic beverages. Wouldn't want to make a you know what of yourselves in front of the big brass. Traditionally, the dancing begins after the meal. The wedding party will dance first, and then the dance floor will be open to everyone.

I would attend both. Go to wedding, make an appearance at the reception. There is always food at the reception, whether it be finger foods or a full course meal. Give money in a card, whatever you can afford. That is the typical gift given at a wedding!

There should be food at the reception, that is customary. General dancing is optional and also doesn't begin until well into the reception, usually after the meal. Good luck and God Bless.

I prefer to go to a reception if one or the other. You don't have to dance if you don't want to do...Just say no. You will be fed at a reception and it's usually toward the beginning but the bridal party will be served first. Show up promptly, to not be rude. You can leave at any time.

Based on the time of the reception, you can expect dinner to be served. Dancing and mingling to follow. You don't have to dance! Lots of people don't! And, just think, you might be seated at a table with some really fun people and have a blast!!!!

No offense, but it sounds like a pity invitation. Like you're his employee so he has to invite you. I hope that's not the case.

Dancing usually starts after dinner has been served, the bridal party's dances are over with, and speeches. You don't have to attend the reception if you don't want to. Lots of people just go to the ceremony.

Normally food is served at the reception.

If you don't really know anyone, i suggest you bring a friend from work, or if your really ambitious strike up a conversation with someone you meet there. eating is first, then dancing so if u want to avoid the dancing, the eat, say your congrats and make a smooth exit , it may help if you make other plans, that way you have a reason to leave when it's time.
have fun!!
