Did prophet Muhammed slaughter a whole tribe because their leaders allied with his enemies?

I read in Islamic history books that prophet Muhammed slaughtered ALL the men from a Jewish tribe (Banu Korayza), enslaved ALL women and children of that tribe and sold them in slavery market to buy weapons.

The reason was allegations that the leaders of that tribe MIGHT had allied with his enemies.

I was shocked when I read that story because I have always thought that prophet Muhammed was one of the most peacful persons in history.

(1) Is that story true?
(2) If it was true, why did he punish the whole tribe although it is impossible that they ALL betrayed him (if his allegations were true)?
(3) Even though, why did he enslave the children? (did they also betray him)?

I don’t know and your sources are unavailing since I don’t read Arabic (or whatever that language is) and the Wikipedia article is disputed. In any case, there are a lot of horrific incidents in the Bible in the Old Testament, so what’s your point? Are you actually studying the Islamic religion or are you just making trouble?

There were three instances where a local Jewish clan allied with Muhammad's enemies. Two times Muhammad's punishment was merely banishment. The third time Muhammad invoked the traditional penalty, slaughtering all the men and enslaving all the women and children. This was normal then.

After Muhammad annihilated that one Jewish clan, the other Jewish clans in the area continued to live nearby, continued to trade and interact with the Muslim, situation normal.

Today's lesson: How do we know exactly what happened so many centuries ago and so many thousands of miles away? We don't. Don't assume any story you hear is accurate. Any story.

Today's terrorists acting in Muhammad's name must be stopped. Really doesn't matter whether - fourteen hundred years ago - Muhammad was nice or not.

I think you have put your finger on the reason for the Muslim hatred of Jews.

The Prophet Mohammed's original plan had been to induce the Jews to adopt Islam; when Mohammed began his rule at Medina in AD 622 he counted few supporters, so he adopted several Jewish practices-including daily prayer facing toward Jerusalem and the fast of Yom Kippur-in the hope of wooing the Jews. But the Jewish community rejected the Prophet Mohammed's religion, preferring to adhere to its own beliefs, whereupon Mohammed subsequently substituted Mecca for Jerusalem, and dropped many of the Jewish practices.

Rather they say: 'Oh, Muslim, Servant of Allah.'" (Palestinian TV, March 30, 2001)

And so, those radicals must be stopped at all costs. They wish to Islamize the western world and will stop at nothing, including murder of innocent men, women and children.
