No, absolutely not. Did a teacher actually ask her students to do that?? I've never heard such a thing. No one should be trying to lose weight without a consultation by their doctor, for the exact reasons you mentioned. I think this teacher needs to be reported to the principal.

NO, it is not okay for a teacher to give you a classwork assignment to lose weight! That is something that should be discussed between you and your doctor. You need to tell your parents about this and they should go to the principal with this information. If he/she doesn't do anything about it, contact your local school board.

This is discrimination! Did the teacher tell the skinny kids that they had to gain weight or they would get a failing grade?

This sounds like a teacher going on their own free will to rid their school of big people. It is absolutely not right for a teacher to fail you because you did not lose weight. It is up to you to feel comfortable in your own skin, it should not be a homework assignment.

That is absolutely unacceptable!!! She is a teacher not a doctor or a diet person. You could et sick in the intent to lose weight plus everyone's metabolism isn't the same so not everyone could lose weight at the same rate even if they wanted to.

As a retired teacher I know that teachers have many tools at their disposal to encourage and challenge students to learn. However I don't know of any state that would approve of such drastic measures. No, I don't believe they can legally do that. Speak to your counselor. That is what he/she is there for.

This teacher needs to be reported. I hope you weren't given that assignment. There are a lot of ethical issues there.
