I already filed my original Tax Return and just got another Form to file. Do I have to file the amended Return also before April 15 or can I do that later on this year?

If any tax is due with the amended return, you must file it and pay the additional tax by the filing deadline, April 17, 2007 this year. If you don't, you'll be assessed penalties and interest for late payment of the tax.

If you are due a refund with the amended return no penalty would be assessed so you could let it ride for a little while but its best to clear it by the filing deadline.

Others implied but did not state if the amended return means you owe more than the original, or get a smaller refund than the original, then you must pay the difference. If either of these is the case, the deadline to avoid penalties and interest is 4/17 this year (4/15 normally).

I would get it in before the deadline it may bite you later with late fees which are not pretty and could cost you a whole lot more then filing one more form....

Amended returns have no deadlines. They usually occur when additional or corrected information is received that neccesitates a change in a filed return for whatever year.
