It's a bit strange to me - I believe God exists, I believe He gave us His Word to know His will, I try to practice it as it is written - I'm called a "fundie" to mean an "extremist, not a regular Christian".
In mathematics, I try to use the same principals - when I do adding or subtracting, 2 + 2 (ALWAYS) = 4..... yet I've never heard anybody call me a "math fundie", instead of a "regular mathematician".

It's short for fundamentalist. Fundie is used as a disparagement for those religious persons (not only Christians) who are excessively dogmatic and intolerant of all other viewpoints, perhaps most especially secularist ones.
It's important to remember that not all Christians are looked upon as fundamentalists, so those who use the term aren't being "mean" to all Christians, only those who are so zealous and irrational that even ordinary Christians roll their eyes and shake their heads at them.

Fundie is short for 'fundamentalist'. It is not meant to be against all Christians or only against Christians, but it's a negative word for fundamentalists of all kinds.

"fundie" is a term applied by others to fundamentalist christians. it implies a certain amount of zealotry, and wanton disregard for literal facts in the face of religious dogma.
it probably is not, therefore, a term of endearment. peace.

It is used here in R&S frequently.
No, it is not meant to be flattering.
I don't mind it though. Whatever.
