I pierced mine in 1998 and took it out in 2000. Now, very rarely do i put it back in, and it never seems to be getting close to closing up? Any experience out there? Just wondering

Everyone is different and there is no set healing time for people.

Some people will heal up in a few hours, others it will take months. Yours has been pierced long enough where it might just shrink and not fully heal at all. Just be patient and give your body all the time it needs. Don't try to put jewelry in because this will reopen the hole and set back healing time.

I had mine done 6 years ago and I take it out for up to 4 or 5 months and it doesn't ever close up. It depends on how fresh the piercing is. I've seen peoples close up in days if it is a pretty new piercing. You eventually get a little bit of scaring which tends to not close up as fast over time.

Mine never gets taken out except to clean it, but my friend Sarah had hers out for a year and it closed completely by the time she moved back up here. I think it depends on how long you have had it for. I've had my nose pierced so long I can take it out for two years or more and it will not close.

it will never fully close up since it has been pierced for so long. what happens is that the hole shrinks. all you would need to do to stretch it back out is to start with a very small barbell and work your way up to a larger size. mine was pierced for a long time (6 years) but has now been out for three years but the hole is still there.

I had my tongue pierced in '98 as well and took it out in 2004. After about six months I tried to put my bar back in and couldn't get it through. I think it really just differs from person to person. I took mine out because after so many years, it had started to irritate my gums in the back of my bottom teeth.

prolly never totally, have various piercings I have left alone for yrs at a time, and if I felt like trying em again, a lil alcohol, and a push, it was right back, there's a weak spot there now.
