At first I didn't know there was other allegry meds I could take to help with my dog.And that was the only reason I gave her up.Then I told to call the doctor about meds for me for allegrys. And the lady I know that has her. They took her to there vet and had her spayed and a couple of shots. The other owner told them it was ok, she would let me have my dog back. Now the vet says they have a contract with the humane society to not let me have the dog back. I am now a emotional wreck, and I visited my dog at the vet today and love her so much. And really want her back.

What state are you in I asked a friend of mine at our shelter and they said (not to be taken as mean) once the dog leaves their shelter it is up to the new owners. The vet that did the spay got their money form the pound to do the spay thats it if the lady wants to give you the dog back just take her to a different vet or you guys could draw up a bill of sale between the two of you and there is nothing the vet can do. so alm down and go get your sweet dog.

First of all, i think its sick that you would give a dog up and then want her back. Dont u think your obligation as a dog owner was to try to find every alternative to help the dog BEFORE giving her to the humane society. What if they euthanized your dog. Then you would NEVER get her back. You gave the dog to a better home who are more responsible than you. (sorry but they paid for the spaying and the dog shots which you failed to do so) I think you should be happy that they dog is in better care and the family took the initative to take the dog to the vet PRIOR to the humane society. I mean once you give it up its gone. I think you should cut your losses and move on. Be happy that it is the care of a loving family. Maybe get a cat instead being that they are more independent and less responsibilty.

It sounds like you should cut your losses, they chose this dog, got needed vaccines etc, which it sounds like you didn't do before giving the dog over. When you found out you have pet allergies you should have went to your doctor before just giving the animal over. It doesn't seem that you where very responsible. I hope now that you have allergy meds, you will move on and get another animal and take it to the vet. After surrendering an animal to the Humane Society, I don't think they will let you adopt one, but adopting is better than buying. I just hope you have learned from your mistakes and do the right things with your next pet.
