its nasty and you'll hate but if you do it every 2-3 hours today it works like a charm, I did it for half a day every hour and my sore throat was gone by the end of the night!!! I had to go out for my friends bday.
Gargle Apple Cider Vinegar ( u can put a little water to mute it if you want) use about 3 parts apple cider vinegar and 1 part water and gargle as long and as much as poss.

Try this, it always works for me:
In the morning before you brush your teeth, make yourself a cup of salt water. About 2-3 teaspoon to a cup of water. If might taste salty, but is good. I hear the salt kills the germs in the throat. After that you bush your teeth and doing the daily stuff.
After is healed, drink more honey water to 'protect' it.

for sore throat gargle with warm salt water. Also drinking tea with home and lemon helps.
You do have to make sure its not strep though. For treatment of strep you need an antibiotic and the doctor will normally give you an pain killer with it.

a teaspoon of salt in a half cup of warm water...gargle as much as you can. Tastes bad, but the salt helps to draw the water out of whatever is causing the sore throat and it shrivels up and dies.

Rest
Plenty of fluids
Gargle soluable Aspirin if you are not allergic to it
If you gargle it and spit it, you can do it as often as you like.
Take some pain relief - paracetamol (= acetaminophen)
You should see a doctor to be checked out if you need antibiotics if:
- You are running high fevers
- You have lost your appetite and you feel very unwell
- You are finding it hard to breath
- You are coughing up mucky stuff
- Your friend tells you that you look shocking and you should go see a doctor

Yes. Find out if it is strep. Strep throat, if untreated, comes and goes, but it is very contagious and can eventually kill you. Once a doc diagnoses it as strep, you'll be given a prescription for antibiotics, which you should take religiously. Also see if you can get some pain medication for it (such as Percocet, as strep throat is very painful).
