He is coming from a dependable breeder who has raised him in the house with his litter as well as a beagle. i have not visited the breeder because i live in NC and she lives in MI and does not ship her dogs so we are meeting in OH at a time we both will be there. Frankly i am getting cold feet after reading all these messages! i have had dogs and cats all my life, but somehow this time seems different and i am taking it seriously. i work at home so the dog will be with me at most times. Any suggestions or help??

No he's not to old to train, i have raised toy foxes and they are very smart dogs. be sure to get papers on the dog with a 30 day health guarantee, if they are a good breeder they will give you what you need, check the dog for navel hernia and look at its teeth to see if the inside of the mouth is nice and pink if its pale white it could have health problems.

Absolutely not!

I assume that you are talking about more than just paper training this dog.

Paper training should start as soon as possible but can be quickly learned by the dog so this tender age should not present any real problems here!

I have had many dogs over the years and I have known many dog trainers in my life and the vast majority of them start training their dogs when they are two to three months old. - and I started training my Bird Dogs to point at about seven months.

And contrary to popular belief - a dog is never too old to learn!

Good luck!

Every thing will work out just fine!

A dog is never to old to train. As long as they listen and understand, they can be trained.

Of course not! Actually it is too early to train him. I mean of course you can start to potty train him and teach him the house rules, but obedience training starts after 20-24 weeks old.
