There are 2 psychological profiles of pedophiles.
1)FIXATED-These molesters never developed a mature sexuality. Their sexual attractions focus on children – boys, girls, or children of both sexes. These pedophiles are neither gay nor straight as they do not have an adult sexual orientation.

2) REGRESSED-These offenders have an adult sexual orientation but "regress" due to trauma, abuse, sexual repression, sexual guilt etc. and disassociate from their adult sexuality and return to an earlier, less mature psychological state and engage in sexual contact with children.

A gay person repressing their natural orientation is just as unhealthy as asking a straight person to do it and increases the risk of severe dysfunction like "regression". As a Christian appalled by the number of child abuse cases in churches, I have to ask: 'Are Christian organisations who demand gay people repress their adult sexual orientation putting our children at greater risk of being sexually molested?

I am not saying that gay people are naturally more inclined to be child molesters. The evidence clearly shows most REGRESSED pedophiles have heterosexual adult relationships.

However, since "REGRESSION" can happen when someone is traumatised, abused or made to feel ashamed, detatched etc. from their innate sexuality, wouldn't that put gay people who are made to feel ashamed of their natural desires, surpress them and refuse any sexual interaction with adults who share their attraction and never experience love or a relationship on that level, at GREATER risk of regression into looking to children to give them back some kind of control, emotional/sexual fulfillement?

It's not the fact they are gay but that there are not ALLOWED to be well-adjusted, fulfilled gays in a consensual adult relationships that is the problem.

Would you feel comfortable with your child around a repressed gay person who is like a shaken bottle of champagne.....about to blow at any minute?

Allowing your children out of the house is putting them at a greater risk of being molested if you really get down to it.

Just remember, that of all the molesters out there, statistics still show that the greatest majority are still "close family members" meaning parents and step-parents, siblings, aunts and uncles.

Followed by teachers, child advocates, police officers, THEN clergy.

So sending your child to school is far more dangerous than sending them to church.

I think that it may be an oversimplification to state that there are only 2 psych. profiles for pedophiles.
That said, however, I definitely think that repression of ones true self, be it sexual, artistic, etc, causes emotional trauma that often plays out in negative or destructive ways.
Feeling accepted and appreciated for who we really are is a powerfully uplifting experience. But conversely, feeling ostracized, ashamed or neglected can cause some of the most intensely horrific feelings and acts imaginable, like rape, murder, and suicide. And of course, child abuse.
But there is a subtle (or not so subtle) bias to your question. By asking if Christian organizations are putting children at risk by forcing gays to repress their orientation assumes that gays, if pressured, become child molesters. I do not believe that gays have any higher proclivity toward pedophilia than 'straights', regardless of the circumstances. I do not have statistical data to back up this claim, but I suspect that most sexual child abuse in this country involves adult males and female children.

You have a very good point. Any church that asks you to "repress" your sinful nature is not a church to belong to.

Do you know any smokers? When you ask an active, addicted smoker to "repress" his urge to smoke for about 5 hours, you're looking for trouble. Instead, you should help that person become an ex-smoker. To keep from smoking, a smoker must "repress" his urges, while an ex-smoker simply has to be who he is.

Don't attend a church that expects sinners to "repress" their sinful nature to the point that they're saved. That's salvation by works - and results in people going to hell. (Note that THE POINT of Christianity is to get people to heaven)

Attend a church that takes sinners and gets them saved. A person's sinful nature falls away as they walk with Jesus. If you know any "gay Christians", don't try to show them good ways to "repress" their sexual orientation. Help them to walk with Jesus - or start questioning their salvation. Being politically correct or polite will not get your friend to heaven.

when people decided sex was an evil act, it became an evil act. Christians have to realize thier mindset has to change for thier religion to change, otherwise it will be the same thing years from now.

AMDG that is rich coming from a devout catholic. I think you know what i meant by that remark.
