It's probably going to be very brassy (unwanted orange tones)

Bleach works best for lifting brown hair to light blonde. Sally Beauty supply carries tons of them.
Color (dye) will typically only lift your hair color about 4 levels (and will not always give you the tone you are seeking) and that's if you are able to use 40 volume developer, and you will then have to figure out how to tone out the too yellow or orange color that remains.

The only real way to lighten hair is to bleach it sorry. Any of the packs you buy from the supermarket won't get it to a light enough shade of blonde and they can look very brassy. I recommend going to hairdressers and getting say a half-full head of foils and gradually go blonder each time you re-do it.

yes it will becauce your hair is dark and the chamicals will make your hair light brown
