Yes. That is rude, but perhaps the guy didn't have one of his own. So maybe instead of looking at it like he was rude, maybe just look at it as you were just helping him out. Selfless acts are always more rewarding than selfish ones.

No, it's not rude. You pay for what you get. Even if it's just a penny over. It's not his fault that it went over, sometimes its really difficult to stop the flow of gas so that you get an exact amount.

If it bothers you so much, get out and pump the gas yourself.

Yeah it is a little rude but honestly it is just a penny. If it was over a penny I would be a little more concerned.

At the cost of gasoline these days, I'm surprised he didn't need to ask you for a dollar, those numbers spin by so fast! I think it's just kind of picky that he asked for the extra penny; seems to me they really wouldn't worry about a penny's worth of gasoline.

Not at all. You got an extra penny worth of gas, pay for it. If you actually don't have the money then he should let it slide, but otherwise you should pay for what you get.

His fault?? You can't always control those pumps. It's no more rude for him to ask you to pay for what you received than it is for a grocery store clerk to ask you to pay the whole amount you owe.

well that's to bad for him cause i don't carry pennies but as for my dad he would have told him to pay for it himself since he wasn't watching what he was doing.
