I don't believe in Buddha, I believe, there are a lot of Buddhas!!! I'm a Buddhist because I believe in the law of cause and effect. If I do, say and think good, there will be some good in future. This gives me the good feeling to be responsible for my luck or bad luck. Gautama Buddha gave the first example for liberating himself by understanding and following this law of cause and effect. The difference to other religions could be named: No God is responsible, you yourself are responsible!
I could add some more things I like on Buddhism, but this is the most important point.

I believe in Buddha because:
1. His teachings are positive. They teach one how to become a better person, interact with others, and grow spiritually.
2. His teachings produced good fruits. They led to the establishment of whole civilizations, which prospered for centuries. These are all evidences that Buddha was a true Manifestation of God and that Buddhism is Divine in origin.
3. He is mentioned in the Baha'i Writings, which I believe in. As a Baha'i, I accept Buddha whole-heartedly as one of the Manifestations of God.
I'm not a Buddhist, I'm a Baha'i. I believe that Baha'u'llah is the Maitreya Buddha promised in the Buddhist Scriptures. The Baha'i Faith fulfills Buddhism and all the other religions of the past.

There have been many Buddha's. Buddhism is more a philosophy than a religion. They do not worship the Buddha, he is a teacher.

buddhism doesnt mean you believe in or worship the buddha. it is said in buddhism if you see the buddha, you should kill him. buddhism is more about understanding the nature of reality. one difference between buddhism and christianity is in christianity god created the world as a separate object, in buddhism god became the world. the only separation between god and man is an illusion. the many are one. the one is the many. but in buddhism they understand how easy it is to fall into the trap of words or thoughts. words are only fingers pointing at the moon. they are never the moon itself. they can be easily misinterpreted.

For one Buddha does not theaten you with hell everytime you do something. His teachings are common sense that is in everyone of us. It's difference is simple it is not based on a theocentic center (aka) god. It is based on the self/ nonself and the actions of the self.
