My seven year old son has been complaining of headaches. I was wondering, what the majority of you folks thought. Is he just doing this to get out of doing things or is he really having headaches? He`s been lying down all week rubbing his head and turning down the T.V. He hates it when the other kids make too much noise. Is he doing this for attention? I may take him to the doctor.

He said this morning he "use to '' like going outside, but now he just sits out against the wall and pulls his hat over his face. He doesn`t like the sun in his eyes. Poor kid, WHAT`s UP with him? I can`t send tylenol to school. I don`t think it`s safe to give it to him everyday.

Yes, my sons began that young. You could try a natural product as it has no side effects. PastTense®, dōTERRA®'s proprietary blend for tension and the discomforts associated with headaches, provides calming comfort with the strength of CPTG® essential oils of wintergreen, lavender, peppermint, frankincense, cilantro, marjoram, roman chamomile, basil, and rosemary. Packaged for convenient application in a roll-on bottle. For aromatic and topical use.

I use it as well as my husbands and both our kids and it works instantly. You apply it to your temples, across your forehead and along the back of your neck. It absorbs and leaves no residue. It is all essential oils that are pure and high quality. You can use this anywhere and without the need of any water to wash anything down...just roll on skin and go! Best of luck!

YES! My mother, aunt, sister and I all have had migraines since we were young children. There are different kinds of migraines so it would be best if you took him to a childrens neurologist, they deal with this all the time. Mine always cause me to be sensitive to sound, especially high pitched noise, lights, movement, raising my head. Ask him where it hurts the worst. If he says behind one eye, or both at once, at the base of the head, or the entire top, it's very likely a migraine. I remember being in so much pain as a child, and people either not listening and thinking I was trying to get attention, or noone knowing how to make it stop. General pain relievers do not usually work, at least not for us. I don't know why we all have them, but check around with other family members and see if any of them have problems with migraines or persistant headaches. By the way, good thinking. Most people wouldn't have given it a second thought, much less considered it being anything other than a normal headache. I actually had to go to a physical therapist for 7 months because of mine when I was 17-18. It turns out they were due to a major nerve being pinched at the base of my skull.

You should definitely take him to the doctor. Kids this age can have migraines. He could also have problems with his vision which can cause headaches or allergies can also cause headaches. I think the fact that he's not playing on the playground says that his head is really bothering him and its not just a bid for attention. A checkup from the doctor is needed.

First of all call your kid's doctor, if you don't have one, find NOW! Yes it's very normal for 7-year olds to have some sort of headaches, normally it should occur at noisy environments where noises distract the child's attention. But this is not always the case. Make sure that there is no electricity plugs near your kids bed, since they have been blamed for migraines. Check if he/she jokes about it trying to make you notice him/her, trying not to go to school etc. If headaches are too often make an appointment to a good doctor.

Yes they do, I have a daughter that's 7 and she has been on meds for migraines for about 2 years. We had to take to to a neurologist and have cat scans and mris done. They told us she might out grow them. The meds really work she very rarely has a headache and she has also learned how to control them on her own by laying down in a dark room for a while and watching what she eats like chocolate cause they can cause headaches. Hope This Helps

I don't know much about migraines, so I can't answer your question. However, I thought this might be helpful. ... I had persistent headaches from very very young. Finally, in 4th grade my doctor determined I needed glasses. The headaches went away until high school, but I think they were tension/stress headaches when they came back. ... If you haven't yet, get his eyes checked. Hopefully that'll solve the problem. (??-not that I want your kid to need glasses, but from my understanding migraines are a nasty thing to deal with. I'd rather have my glasses.)

Sounds like it is time to have his eyes checked. Tension headaches are harsh and usually the main cause is from eye strain. I have had this happen back when I was in school and know it is really hard to work around others. I would make an appt for his eyes first and if that comes out good then see the Pediatrician to make sure it is nothing serious. Good luck and hope all is well.

I suffered migraines from the time I was about 4 right up until I went through puberty around 13 or so. Do take him to the Dr.s because they are the most painful thing for a child(or anyone) He is describing the discomfort and I doubt a 7 year old would know to say those things about migraines. Lights, noise, vomiting, restlessness in sleep and movement are typical symptoms other then the pain itself.

Yes 7 year old can get migraines but I think he needs to be seen by a doctor, his headaches could be an indication of something more serious.

Take him to the doctor. My brother had several migraines a week when he was a kid. He is now older and they have started up again. And finaly went to the doctors about 20 years later because they started back up again.
