ok-i cooked some rice the other day-after it was done my microwave started to beep and the display was showing 99:99 and kept on beeping. I cleared it and it did it again. I have unplugged it, but once in a while it will start to beep again and show 99:99 like some one is pressing it. Is it a ghost? (lol) or is there something wrong with it?

would it make a difference if the microwave is plugged into an extenstion cord? my kitchen only has one outlet, so i use the extenstion cords.

It is either a short circuit somewhere inside the microwave, or possibly a problem with the wiring in your house.
Try plugging into another outlet (maybe even take it to the other end of the house, to make sure it is on a completely different circuit) and see if the problem persists.
If it does, then you might want to ditch it (or figure out if you can return it, or get warranty repairs if it isn't too old). If it is shorting out, then it could be a potential hazard.
