Circumcision has been prescribed in many religions for males, especially in Islam and Judaism. Seems that religion was on to something, what do you think?

I wasn't trying to promote promiscuity, nor trying to say that there should be unprotected sex, and castration is not recommended by any religion. Just making an observation that perhaps there is something to circumcision that we have yet to fully understand.

John Z: This has been adopted by the WHO (World Health Organisation), if they are promoting it then there must be some truth to it, i'm sure they must be aware of the other studies.

It might reduce the chance of infection but it doesn't stop infection or anything like it. In the USA when AIDS first appeared nearly all the men who got it were circumcised. Circumcision does not prevent or slow other STDs which were around when Judaism and Islam made their laws about it.

Circumcision is not the answer to the world wide AIDS problem. It doesn't cure the disease or prevent infection.

Actually, there is significant evidence disproving the AIDS prevention theory and numerous holes in the research. There are researches with proof that circumcision actually increases the likelihood of transmission. It's still way too early for any major programs of mass circumcision to be recommended.

Did you know that not "going forth and multiplying" reduces the chances of contracting HIV and AIDS to nothing (discounting the small possibility of getting it from an infected needle)?

... If you don't have sex at all then it doesn't matter whether you're circumcised or not.
Then again, I'm circumcised for "medical reasons" (and I have no idea what those were). No complaints there.

The reason Hebrews and Christians circumcised was actually for spiritual reasons, not health reasons.

Now that Christ instituted the sacrament of Baptism, circumcision is no longer required, but optional. The decision is left to the parents.

God bless.

Most monotheistic religions originated in the desert.

Have you ever had sand under there?

Not by enough that unprotected sex should be an option for anyone. Vive la condom!

Did you know there are just as many studies that say otherwise, but that they're ignored for personal reasons by those who have the power to control whats printed and whats not.

Enjoy.

Yes, they understand promiscuity.

I imagine castration would too. Somehow that doesn't sound quite so appealing.
