Help, my husband got a really bad sunburn on sunday and yesterday he started freakin' out, it was burning, itching like crazy. He couldn't stop walking around the house crying and screaming from 5pm til 3 am unitl he finally fell asleep. (that was after giving him a bunch of ibuprophen and Nyquill to help him go to sleep.) We tried aloe vera for sunburn, the insatnt coolant spray, lanacane, Hydrocortisone, baking soda in a cold bath, baking soda paste on his chest. Nothing would work, he said it felt like a bunch of needles going through his body, or fire ants biting from the inside. He really made me worried, now this morning he seems fine cuz' he's sleeping, didn't even wake him up for work......Please help, He's whillin to try anything! I was just told about vinegar ??? wha do you think?

Did Kelly said it should be good in 36 hours??? Well I have to move out of there! He drives me nuts, I was going to take him to the hospital yesterday because he was scaring my daughter so much she cried herself to sleep. I wanted him to stay in the hospital care.
He was really freakin out. I've had a bad sunburn before but I didn't act this way!

I have been burnt many times and have tried all the suggestions and more. Vinegar, oatmeal, milk, baths did not relieve the pain and made my skin feel tighter after bathing. I looked like an old lady walking around due to the fact the backs of my legs were burnt so bad I could not straighten them. Aloe Vera gel did not work for me either. I am sure all of these homemade solutions would work just fine for a minor sunburn, but not for a major sunburn.

Vitamin E is very effective on burns. (First aid is COLD on a burn; apply the "E" later). You can drip the vitamin onto burned skin directly from the capsule. This is sanitary, soothing and painless. Even third degree burns heal much more readily with twice-daily applications of Vitamin E. Less scarring and greatly reduced inflammation are continually reported with its use. Absorption of the vitamin is best if the skin is dry before application.

For a large area of sunburned skin, mix a few 400 I.U. capsules with one or two tablespoons of olive oil. Gently rub this in as soon as possible after exposure. There will be little if any peeling if you apply the "E" mixture promptly.

A product with Lidocaine (pain killer) is very soothing also. Banana Boat makes a good one that is a blue spray (pump) on gel.

I feel for your husband. I have been there. I also feel for you because I know how I was when I was burnt. Best of Luck to you all.

You should try the real aloe Vera plant. Just put him the juice on the sunburn. Also corn starch paste. Banana peel, very thin potatoes slices will do too.
Hope he feels better soon. It's not fun having sunburn at all.
Good luck!!!

Vinegar is good but try soaking in a luke warm bath with Epsom salt! (For 20 min) few times a day!

The above is good advice. I'd take asprin every four hours.
Aloe, and really cool bath - and ice packs on the worst parts.

It should be better in 36 hours.
