I wanna take my girl to the city this Saturday, But i dunno NY too well. I need to know some good places to take her. What are some noteworthy areas to take her to? I wanna it to be a laid back day where we can move at a nice easy pace and not have to rush around.

Thanks alot.

We don't drink or smoke..so preferably any spots that don't include bars and stuff like that. And I'm from NJ so anything from NY is different from what I normally do, so just recommend anything...it can be simple too. But it needs to have a "few" things to do in that general area so we don't have to rush around.

Depending the time of day you want to take your girl out, here are some choices:

during the daytime:

Central Park (go in the park on 59th street and lexington)
Central Park zoo (around 63rd st and lex)
FAO Schwartz (58th st and lex; everyone is a kid at heart and you can recreate the scene where tom hanks is playing with that large keyboard on the floor in the movie "big")
Rockefeller Center (48th st and lex)
Toys r Us (44th and broadway; again everyone is a kid at heart and plus there's a ferris wheel in the store)
the Bodies exhibit in South Street Seaport

during the evening:

the observation deck of the empire state building or Rockefeller center (you will enjoy the view)

I would say it really depends on your mood. There is a fabulous exhibit by Alex Grey on 28th btw 10 & 11th. It is all his orignal artwork and hes a brooklyn based artist. His work is phenomenal and very relaxing to take in. I would say check out union square to do some shopping. Every Saturday they have the farmers market so you can pick up some local treats for cheap. There is so much t do in Manattan. Definelty take a walk down broadway and lafeyette street to take in all the local artists and their work. There are tons of street vendors set up displaying their own creations of jewlery, shirts and paintings. its cool to check out something different rather than whats in the average stores. Goo dluck, if u need any eaterie suggestions just let me know what t ype of food is your style and i could recommend some great restuarants.

I wold say Grimaldi's for pizza then to the little ice cream place at the peir, and watch the boats in the east river. This spot is really nice and its right under the Brooklyn Bridge.

Museums and/or street fairs. You can find a list of locations on the NYC Tourist Center: http://www.nyctouristcenter.com
