it has been in a category d accident but fully repaired. however this means it is on the hpi register and makes it harder to sell. i have heard of places that can verify the repair in order to take it off the hpi register is this right?

In the case of a category D the Insurer has chosen to make a total loss payment rather than e.g . incur excessive hire car costs even though the cost of repair was less than the pre-accident value of the vehicle.

DVLA will re-register a cat D following repair without an inspection - repaired write-offs in other categories must first undergo a Vehicle Identity Check.

The DVLA record will identify the car as 'damaged repaired' and this remains the case throughout the vehicle's remaining life.
