Can a house located in the sunny South be run on complete solar power? If so, could someone tell me how to go about doing it? I know the basics....solar panels (can be bought used, they DO last for 25 years or more), marine batteries or similar rechargable large engine batteries, an inverter, a DC breaker box.....but how do you go about setting all this up to run a house?

U need a professional do to this. You can't mount them yourself, just find a company specialized in such things. You also need to calculate how many panels you need according to your energy needs, how large the batteries, etc. But a house can be run on solar power. The batteries accumulate the energy which in turn will be used during the night.
In fact my dream for the future is building a small a solar plant so I can sell energy to a village,etc. Such an investment will trun to profit in 5-10 years max.

Yes - no problem - but you are looking at about 25 year payback. The switching gear cost a lot of money. In the American south, you can get about 60% solar energy straight off the top. The other 40% you will have to use batteries; night time, cloudy days, coldest weather, etc. In the American north, it's just the opposite, 40%/60%, which is impossible! You need at least 50%/50% to be total solar.

yes if you have big enough batteries limit your power usage orand have lots of solar panels my aunties house is completly solar powered, we are not allowed to use hair dryers there tho :|
go to mitre 10 or if you are not in australia go to some other random hardware/diy shop or find a hippy and follow them for a while they willl eventually lead you to some kind of solar power shop!

Healthy & econmic but a bit expanssive to install for the first time.

yes but u have to have ur water and all that and it would be alot of panels of solar
i think u can run the intergei right to ur house and to not blow a fuze u the companey that does ur entergi will pay u if there is to much intergi going to ur house it will go to ur company that does ur entergi i am not a good speller

Depending on house size...you'll need the panels probably on the roof would make the mose sense. You need lots of light!! Cloudly weather makes for no sunlight thus no power.
