I know that the beauty of it is only found in Arabic, but I can't read Arabic and so all I know is what my boyfriend's mother reads for me

Muslim haters...

STAY AWAY PLEASE

I have not asked for anyone's opinion on whether they agree with Islam or not...

I have not asked for anyone's views on the Qur'an...

I have not asked for trouble here...

The sad thing is that many of you bashers claim to be Christian...but how can you be Christian if you do not even follow the commandments Jesus gave in Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

You may not agree with Islamic teachings and practice and I respect that...but I cannot respect people resorting to hate speech over religious differences - no matter who bashes who.

That's sweet your boyfriends Mother is reading the Quran to you! My Husbands Mother does the same, she enjoys speaking to me about the Quran and telling me about Prayers and such...I go to her when ever I have a question about Islam!
When I first wanted an English translation of the Quran I told Her and she went out and got me one straight ahead! Ask your boyfriends Mother or go buy one at any book store! Please don't read it from the internet...I'm not sure there is ANY sight out there that isn't opinionated and has their own views put in claiming it as fact...Be Careful!
Just read the book and if you have more questions go ask your boyfriends Mother, she will be so pleased!!

Funny how the people with the MOST thumbs down are the ones that are all right and only trying to help...And the ones with the most thumbs up are the ones with hatred towards Islam...Goes to show no one likes hearing the truth, they thumbs down it so they don't have to see the truth and be reminded of it....What a shame...

first , i could like to mention that all of the english translations of the qur'an have flaws in it , which means that a few phrases are mistranslated. so , i exploit "sahih worldwide english translation" , however it isn't excellent both. i attempted to translate a certain verse from qur'an making use of special english translations , and that i determined that "sahih worldwide" is the person who translated the targeted phrase from arabic to english. this internet site includes many english translations adding sahih worldwide :

I wasn't going to Answer this Question which came up because I probably missed the one I wanted to help and landed here; but when I read the first Answer, I was really sickened!

The way you Muslims behave on YA R&S is, to put it very mildly, abominable!

You really show your class, don't you?

I'll tell all my friends to come in and give you all a taste of your own Medicine.

My thumbs up for Simon!

Online version?

Gimme a sec. BRB. I'll give you the links.

Here's one:
http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran/

Here's another.
http://majalla.org/books/quran/index.htm

I'm sorry, my browser's having some problems; so, I'll have to ask you to check these out.

Cheers!

Simon Templar

Edit:

Sorry for having had to leave suddenly due to browser problems, I really didn't mean to do that.

I would've done another Google Search to help you, but I noticed that some Muslims have claimed that the University of Michigan link I'd given you is a "Hate Site".

Personally, I don;t think that a University would sink so low, but then, whatever!

I notice the Muslims have also started their usual ruse of the thumbs down to hide our Answers. It's a cheap thing to do, but, what can I say?

Thanks to whoever were kind enough to thwart their cheap attempts by giving me the thumbs up.

May god bless you, Leila.

There are 3 English transalators of the Quran who are widely quoted, they are: Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Marmaduke Pickthall and Shakir. I have personally found Abdullah Yusuf Ali to be the best. You have to be careful to accept any English transalation other than one from these authors, as the authenticy of other transalators is not widely accepted (although Muhammad Asad is also said to have done a good job), and some are from non-muslim authors who purposefully distort the meanings of the words.

Apart from book form you can find all these 3 transalations on the following site:

Most book stores, like Borders, will include it in their religion section. It's probably available for free on line too.
I like the sound or Arabic. When I was in Malaysia I enjoyed listening to the calls to prayer.

I don't know but let me warn you there are certain sites out there which have false translations of the Qur'an. I'm a Muslim so I thought I better warn you.
