I was on the Depo shot and I gained 20 lbs. My doctor was saying that they rarely prescribe diet pills to teens, but in my case it would be fine. I am 15, 5'2" and weigh 135 lbs. Do you think I should take the offer? I'm going back to see this doctor after I see a gynocologist. Please give me some opinions or experiences with prescription diet pills.

Also, I keep on gaining weight with exercise and on a strict diet. When I told her that, that's when she recommended prescription diet pills until the Depo wears off. I got my first shot in November and never went back for the 2nd one.

A couple of people have said something about me being on birth control for sex. To clear some things up, I'm on birth control because a while back I moved from a small town w/population of 3,600 people to a place of 40,000 people and still growing. All of my friends were on birth control and my mom said I should be too. I've made this clear to my doctor also.

weight gain is common with depro... The diet pills are a bit extreme but if you stop taking it and haven't lost the weight or still on depro you may want to reconsider. I gained a lot more pounds and have had a heck of a time loosing that weight. But you are the master of your domain... if you don't think it is better seek another doctor or ask for alternatives.

Gina M, it all depends on you. How do you feel gaining 20lbs. on the Depo shot? I do sympathize with your age, but I'm sure that the Doctor would not have prescribed this to you if he did not think that gaining 20 lbs. that fast on the shot was healthy for you. What I'm really saying is you're only 15 and if you're getting this shot, it means that you're having sex right? So the Doctor thinks that if you're mature enough to have sex, then he sees no problem prescribing a young Lady of your age diet pills.

If I were you and I was concerned with my weight, I would go with the old "eat right and exercise regularly" program. Diet pills can be extremely dangerous and addictive no matter what doctors say. you're only 15! which means that you have the ability to lose weight quickly because your metabolism is at its peak. Diet pills are taken off the market everyday because they cause serious side affects and one of them even includes death. I mean look at ephedra, the miracle diet pill that is now illegal because it causes heart attacks. Have you ever seen the movie "Requiem for a Dream"? Cause if you haven't, it will open your eyes to the horrible world of diet pills.

Diet pills should not be subscribed to a young person,he's irresponsible in suggesting it.Try walking for 30 minutes a day also think a new gynocolgist might suggest a different family dr for you!

WHY ON EARTH ARE U ON THE DEPRO SHOT AT 15! YOU ARE WAY TO YOUNG TO BE ON THAT KIND OF DANGEROUS BIRTH CONTROL SHOT,LET ALONE HAVING SEX! DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS,EAT A HEALTHY BALANCED DIET (YOUR STILL GROWING) AND EXERCISE.
I AM SHOCKED AT WHAT THE WORLD IS COMING TO WITH CHILDREN ON THE DEPRO SHOT! YOUR HORMONES ARE THE CAUSE OF WEIGHT GAIN,BALANCE THEM AND UR WEIGHT WILL COME OFF.

Well, your doctor is usually your best advisor in medical cases than any of us folks here on Yahoo. If you are uncertain, speak with your doctor about your concerns.
Is your physician Pediatric or Family doctor? Sometimes this makes a difference in treatment!
Good luck!

Find another doctor, there is no reason somoene your age should be put on diet pills, and you should make sure his conduct is reviewed andhe should be given a repremand or have his liscens suspended.
