If you have been on a first date with someone and they ask if they can see you again? Have you started a relationship or a friendship? If it isn't a relationship at what stage does a "relationship" start? After sex? After 3 months? After meeting their parents?

its a tricky one as many people consider themselves in a relationship at different courses throughout - I guess a clear signal would be that neither of ye are interested in meeting anyone else - I wouldnt push the situation until you've been on quite a few dates - you then might casually mention if hes seeing anyone else - give him the opportunity to tell you he wants to be exclusively yours.

the problem is, I don't think people understand what 'dating' actually is.... If someone says to you that yes, they want to be a little bit more committed and be with you IN a relationship then it is pretty obvious.
Dating is like a friendship verging on a test relationship. In my opinion just don't get any preconceived ideas about what is actually happening here, and just go with the flow. But on the otherhand if you are starting to get more feelings for a particular person, then I would tread carefully; as you are not together- together, the commitment only goes as far as 'what time are we going out tonight?' type thing- and that's about it.
You don't want to get rejected, and you don't want to look clingy too early on, but to be honest it's better to let the person know how you feel as it could only develop into a relationship, or you just both stay friends.
And as there was no ties attached to begin with, it means that you won't have anything to lose. I would wait three to four weeks - (meeting them about twice a week or more depending on scenario), see how it goes, and if you two connect and have things in common, then start asking questions...
You will know when your in a relationship when someone asks to be your bf/gf. If someone wishes to 'see you again', it means that they do like you, and want to see where it will go, not to expect a definitive 5 year plan and kids.
Sex has nothing to do with a relationship - we have all been there and done that with one night stands. And meeting the parents is near enough marriage commitment! Unless it is just a relaxed enviroment for a night in, and you arent there to be picked apart by his/her parents.
Just put yourself out there; meet loads of different people, date the ones you like, ditch the ones you don't - be brave and be honest about how you feel... You have so many options in life! your in control remember that, just make up your own mind based on your instincts, and what you want the most.

One date is not a relationship. Getting to know and care about someone more than anyone else is a relationship.

If you're asking this question then it's not a relationship. It becomes a relationship when you're sure enough of each other to know that it's exclusive and that you both want more from each other without having to outwardly discuss it.

When you've seen each other 2-3 times. That's the beginning of a relationship. When it develops into a situation that you see each other to the exclusion of members of the opposite sex. That's then a relationship.Regardless to meeting the parents or sex

It can start at different levels. The most important is that you both feel it is already a relationship.
