i wanna buy a car from an owner, who i found online. i have to buy a car asap, but i haven't got my licence yet. i will have road test on april 12th. my friend says he can use his name to buy the car for me, and after i got my licence, then it changes to my name. is it okay to do this?
when me n' my friend buy that car, should we buy insurance before go to DMV with that owner?
or does anyone can give me better idea to do this??

you can buy a car without a license. Just don't register it. Park it i n your yard till you pass your test then insure and register it. If you pay for the car, reg and insurance and put it in your friends name he IS NOT legally obliged to give it back. I know it may seem like you can trust this person but it is a little suspicious. Yeah, buy and get the sales slip in your name and register in your name. not worth the hassel, trust me

this is how it works in texas: u go to the court house and get a title transfer paper. then take ur money and that paper to who u r buyin the car from. the sell only has to fill out the form and sign it and the back of the title U MUST HAVE THEIR SIGNATURE!!! u will have to park the car in the drive for now, but when u get ur license just sign the 2 docs and take them to the c house. if u put it in this other persons name anything could happen as it did to me in the same situation. so dont be to nieve about it. best of all have a parent or relative u can trust or write up a contract agreement between the two of u stating the situation.

FIrst off, draw up a memo with all the details and have your friend sign it. I have seen people get screwed in this process. Draw up a note stating what you are doing include all the details, leave no stone unturned. Date it and both of you sign with the express language that once you get your license the car will be turned over to you with no extra money involved , no questions asked. He/she will sign the title over to you period. Ask them to sign this, if they refuse DO NOT PROCEED! A true frined would understand the situation and sign this letter in a heartbeat as it protects both you and them. Friendships can be ruined over something like this it is better to protect yourselves.

yeah, you can buy it in ur own name w/o a liscense, you just cant drive it, thats all. even if you trust ur friend, it is not worth it, because title transfer fee cost you. It cost like $300 in illinois, donno about ur state. When ur friend transfers it back to u, you are wasting extra money that you could've kept.
