I hooked up my HD reciever from Direct TV to a normal T.V. (non HD) and on some channels the color fades in and out constantly. Is this because I could only hook up the red, white, yellow rca cable??? I do plan on getting a HD tv for this location I'm just waiting for a good sale. Does anyone know if I have a tv problem or a HD reciever problem???

The HD receiver will have a section in Messages and Settings that allow you to see the signal strength of each transponder on each satellite you receive. Go into that and test the signal strength. This will at least let you know if the signal is good.

I think you may have hooked it up thru a VCR?

If you did the copy protection feature hidden on new Receivers is activated. The solution is to use a RF modulator to get the signal to your single RF connection TV see below for a source but they are available most everywhere

just run it thru the S-cable, if this solves your problem then you know you did something wrong

and on standard def the S-cable should be just as good
