No, but the bible tells us that when there are More than 2 gathered in his name, there is love...and that being the love of God is amplified. Two praying together, outweigh 10 praying alone...

Personally I think praying and being close to God are all about how you life your life and what's in your heart. There are a lot of people that think just because you go to church every Sunday you're a good Christian. There's no attendance requirement to be "saved" or go to heaven or otherwise be rewarded. However, going to church does have its benefits because you get to be close to others who *hopefully* are close to God. The Bible says "where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am also." That's the advantage of going to church to pray, but you can also pray at home by yourself or anywhere at any time.

You do not have to go to church to pray. Going to church is something that is encouraged because there you can fellowship and find strength by being with other people who understand what you are going through. It is easier to fall away from God when you have no support system behind you. It is like how ducks fly together in a V, or when fish swim together because they are stronger together but weak by themselves.

I am not sure of what your real question is.
The first is, no we do not need to go to church to pray. We certainly can pray anywhere and everywhere.
But are you asking why do we go to church? Or why do people seeming pray only at church?

We go to church for a variety of reasons. One of the main purposes is the aspect of corporate worship of our awesome God. To lift our voices and our hearts to Him as a group.
The other is to learn as a group about "what's next"! What are we doing to build one another, to help one another grow and become mature in Jesus. And then why do some only seem to pray in church. That requires a much more complex response. I suppose, some of it is a matter of coming to the understanding that we are to pray individually, as well as corporately.

I go to Church to hear the word of God. I go to Church to learn. There is so much more to Church than just praying. I don't know anyone who go's to church just to pray! I can pray anytime any where. I can type a prayer for you here. We can worship God at home. It just helps some people to be around a group of believers. It helps some people to study together. Most people just need to be with others to hear or to study the word.Jesus didn't intend for us to go this route alone as he said "Where ever there are 2 or more gathered together in my name I am there also."

No. We can pray anywhere. The Bible instructs us how to pray. It also states to assemble together. We go to church to learn and to fellowship. This is part of coming out of the "world" and living a Godly life.

I actually go to church to worship with other believers and to fellowship with them and have relationships with other Christians... there are times we are in prayer... but most of the time, I do my praying at home or with a few close friends and not in 'mass/congregations' . I think some people may have been taught that there is only one way to talk to God and that is in a 'church building' or 'thru a priest/pastor' or whatever... but that is not what Christ did... He went alone to the garden to spend time in prayer each day... and I think if we follow His example, that is what God wants... not someone speaking our words for us....

Good question.

Jesus Christ established a Church on earth. I'm not talking about an invisible group of people all calling themselves Christians. The Church of Christ can be identified as the historical Catholic Church. Jesus told us the gates of Hell would not prevail against it.

We actually go to Church not just to pray (it's good and right to pray anywhere!) but to worship God and if we are in a state of grace, to partake of His body and blood in communion.

Remember, Jesus went to church. We should go to His.

God bless you.

Church is not a Religion, or Faith, but a building to ' gather with your sister and brothers ' to be re-vitalized. In the Bible Jesus always gathered His followers outside. When He waved His arms and said " This is my World ', not the synagogue!! Jesus was a Carpenter like His Earthy father Joseph, which in those days was a very physical trade, not like the power tools of today ! His hands were rough, and calloused, but His words were soft and straight-forward, like a Master Educator. Most think Jesus has Blondie hair, blue eyes; or some believe that He is their nationality. But, all I can tell you is what I read in Scriptures, and that Jesus was born in the tribe of David, whom were known for their long hair of small curls, deep dark complexion. In Revelation it talks of Him all in White, with hair like white steel-wool! I can imagine if He was to walk down Broadway, or Central Park, police would be getting alot of phone calls about a suspicious individual looking like a terrorist.....!! I can imagine Him smiling !! I pray you well, and The world and it's Beauty is Jesus church. so God Bless you and America !!

No we don't have to go to church to pray. We should go to church to have fellowship with other Christians and to listen to God's word being preached. Yes you can read, meditate, pray, watch the pastors on TV, etc. But we need to have that fellowship with other Christians so that we can support one another and hold each one accountable.
