just by being there when they needed u most or sometime when they don't need u, i don't tell u to make a nuisance of urself but let him or her know that ur there whether they need u or not know that they need u that moment. Show them by doing things that are not expected of u by being thoughtful and sweet (not too sugary about it) and mostly by telling them when u have time alone together, at least u know that he or she will listen to u that moment. Why tell them, not all of them can outguess ur purpose or know why suddenly ur acting that way...Some of them mostly guys, (sorry but im not talking in general) are quite dense or prefer to deliberately ignore what ur doing. So be honest when u feel the time is right and tell but don't stall.

Find the things that are really important to him or her..and show them that not only do you pay attention and you know them really well...you care enough to go out of your way and make sure that you respect the things that are important to them......R.E.S.P.E.C.T and attention to detail ;)
