Hmmm because they are lazy. Everyone wants something quick and they do not want to work to get it. So when you tell them to Google it, it means they have to do the research. Same with many of the questions on here - most can be easily "Googled" and an answer found. Instead, we see lots of simple questions. Remember when you use to ask "how do you spell...?" and the reply was "look it up in the dictionary..."
Same thing, different medium.

Most people don't like a smart a**. Believe it or not, Einstein, people are not asking you because they actually think you're smarter than they are. They're fulfilling a little basic human need called "communication." You are alienating yourself from your colleagues...not a good idea. The bosses are going to catch on to this and see that you're not a team player. I hope pink's your favorite color, or would you rather your slip be black because its your funeral? What other things do you do to make yourself odious to your co-workers? Neglect to shower? Steal pics of their kids off their desks? Eat their lunches? Don't worry, if the company ever needs to make cutbacks, you'll be the 1st to know!

Because it comes across as if you don't have time for them and that you know the answer but won't help them because you don't want to waste your breath. I agree it can get old people asking you questions over and over, especially if they are always the same people, but maybe you could explain to them that it is hard for you to work when you are getting interrupted with questions, and it would help you out a lot if they could try to find the answers on their own by doing some research instead of running to you as soon as they have a question.

People harken back to the days when parents or teachers said "look it up in the dictionary" and they think of that whjen u say "google it". Plus u dislike the use of google as a verb.

People get offended when you tell them to "google it," most likely because you are treating them like children.
What did our parents/teachers always tell us to do when we were children? "Go look it up."
"Google it" is today's version of "go look it up." I even tell my children to go look it up on the internet. That added with the fact that you seem to know the answers to their questions, probably pisses people off. Not to mention that you seem to think they are stupid. I'm sure that comes through.
Would it be so horrible to just give them the answer?

we live in a society of instant gratifacation. when you say google it, that means "work for it" and no one wants to put in the effort now-a-days. but you are right when you say they should google it, i have always thought that there is no problem that cant be solved with the internet. it is an infinate base of knowledge yet people shy away from it. i just dont get it sometimes! lol

They're just asking a simple question and you're probably saying it with an attitude. It's really sad that you think of your co-workers that way by saying they have ''brain problems''. I'm sure they think the world of you too.

People get offended because you clearly have an "I'm better than you and you're wasting my time" attitude. In an office, people ask each other questions all the time. They get the information faster and it is part of the social aspect of the work culture. If you don't like people, I suggest you find a way to work at home by yourself.

I tell that to people all the time unless I happen to know the answer off the top of my head or am on the computer and feel like looking it up for them.

If they get offended it's their problem, if you care so much then you could google it for them, but I wouldn't feel bad about it.
