Isn't vanity a sin? Also, how about the suffering of poor innocent animals used to make these furs, and the poor people who risk their lives to mine the gold and diamonds to adorn their bodies??

I think it's hypocritical.

I'm Catholic so before you so called Catholics judge me, I go to church and witness this everytime. The overdone hair, makeup, jewelry. I go to church to worship, not to impress! It's not a fashion show. I dress in a respectable manner that will not call attention to me as other women choose to do. Thank you!!

I am totally offended by the way you refer to catholic women. I'm a catholic woman and I don't own a fur let alone nice jewelry (only costume). There are some people who are always going to get caught up in trying to look the best, please be mindful that this is never an entire group of people like you just implied.

What church do you go to? The only time we have fur in my church (Catholic) is when people bring in their pets to be blessed. My church is very modest, nothing fancy, and no one looks the way you described. I've never gone to a church like that.

I'm not a woman or a catholic. But I think that they probably like the furs they wear, and the jewelry too. Why isn't that okay? Weren't people wearing furs and jewelry in times past? When did civilization become so advanced that it forgot the eons of time where people wore the skins of animals?

Besides, I like the look of those skins. I don't own any of them, but I do like the look of them.

It's a good thing wear your nicest clothes to Church out of respect for God. Wouldn't you want to look your best if you were going out on a special date with someone you loved?

Is it ok to dress up and look nice for a man but not for God?

I wear jewelry and my nicest dress to church, but I don't have a real fur coat. That would be nice, though. The Kansas winters are freezing and the fur of animals can keep us really warm. Even the Indians knew this. It's not a sin.

And why are you targeting only Catholic women? Don't other women wear furs and jewelry?

God bless you.

Paul certainly said we should not come to church over dressed. but even as a child I had best clothes for church. now I do not care what I wear but do try and be respectable. we have several homeless people come so it is better to be inviting than looking over dressed.

Tell me something, are you wearing leather shoes right now? Are you wearing jewelry? I don't like organized religion myself, but what I like less are judgemental people. Get back to me when you wear sackcloth and ashes to church.

It is not just in Catholic churches, but most other churches. Particularly Presbyterian and episcopal. How do you know they are not faux fur and fake gems?

I'm not sure which Catholic church you are attending, but the ones I've been to have more people in jeans and sneakers than even nice "Sunday clothes".

Animals were put on this Earth to serve man.

I will agree that conditions in mines are quite unsafe, even in the United States.
