Hi - this is actually quite a common phobia, Ive heard of it several times before. I think if its taking over your life like this then a trip to the docs is in order. Dont worry, they wont think youre mad, and they will be able to give you some tips on controlling the fear. Good luck! xx

I have this phobia , and I look after other people`s kids. It`s the smell and the actual act of someone throwing up that scares me. I think it`s because when someone is throwing up, people panic!! When my son got sick in church, everyone scrambled, and was running to help him. It`s a socially unaceptable thing, it`s gross. After working in a nursing home and taking care of children, you get used to the act of vomiting, but you never get used to the smell.

You might be having a case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). You're afraid to come into contacts with anything dirty because you feel that the germs can be contracted by you and that you'll get sick.

If that's how you feel, just let me know by adding an additional detail to your question. I'll give you more info. on OCD.

A very healthy reaction our minds defend us from things that could be a danger to our health so we avoid Blood , vomit , excrement etc.
Perhaps work on your sister as well as working on your phobia you both could drink Ginger or peppermint tea .

Cinnamon , cloves, chamomile, sage and cardamom were also thought to be effective in herbal law . Lemon , rose hip syrup and lavender were also a treatment for nausea .

Rosemary leaves mixed with an equal amount of honey was recommended . A cup of hot water taken before me times was thought to prevent Nausea
You ll have to work on the Psychological aspect yourself

I hate to throw up too - (I mean I would rather have something painful happen then throw up) but it is one of those things that when it happens you can't control it? So - you have to think about that.

AND you are likely feeling bad that you worry you may throw up too, so you can't offer compassion.
Just excuse yourself and let the person know it's something you have trouble dealing with.

Sadly if you ever become a mom (you may throw up a few times while prego) and your kids do get sick.
It's kind of an in your face reality check. Bring it up if it consumes your thoughts (to your MD)!

its very common its an automatic gag impulse. i do it when i see people brush their teeth, but i know where my problem comes from i had a botched endoscope procedure go wrong when i was 12 and not fully knocked out. but i'll puke out my nostrils, on the bus, on the street, even in front of my fiancee the first morning after we met (attractive eh?) the thought and sight of teeth brushing makes me sick. its not a phobia you have, your normal dont worry.

I used to hate puke too...the smell, the look, etc makes you feel like you've got it in your throat too. What I did was to see it in a different light, i.e. disgusting fun. Look it funny and start laughing and thinking silly when you come across puke, you'll get over it really quick.

No one really likes to be around sick people; however, if this is ruining your life, you can seek a therapist who can help you with this problem.
