Just ignore the stupid idiots with hate.

Paternity pay is an additional benifit offered to all dads in employment. The 2 weeks are paid at the statutory rate you have mentioned.

You can take 2 weeks holiday if you want and get full pay but obviously that iwll come of your annual leave entiltelment.

Why not do both? Take your 2 weeks paternity and then 2 weeks Annual Leave? That will give you pleanty of time with new bubba and your wife.

My husband is in the same situation as you and he will only get £112 any other time will be unpaid. If you can afford to try and take paternity pay instead of holiday because you can then take holiday later on. Congratulations by the way.

2 weeks off is the Standard Paternity Leave, and it is only the £100 or so per week. You can take it off as holiday if your company allow you to but then you lose some of your holiday entitlement and the chance on two extra weeks off.

It's not even £112 a week - it's £108!!
Yep - that's all you get. So you might just want to book holiday if you've got it to spare.

My hubby is just going to book holiday as we can't afford to live on that!

That wrong mate. I am a farther too, congrats btw! Anyway it depends on the company what they pay you but ALL farther are entitled to 13 weeks UNPAID leave at 4 weeks per year and until the childs 5th birthday. This is thanks to the european laws. If your company try to tell you otherwise go see the CAB and get leagal advice. Good luck mate.

if you can do it...take the deduction in pay and save your holiday....or do half and half...one week holiday, one week cut in pay.

congrats and good luck
