Rest is the first treatment for plantar fasciitis. Try to keep weight off your foot until the inflammation goes away. You can also apply ice to the sore area for 20 minutes three or four times a day to relieve your symptoms. Often a doctor will prescribe nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen. A program of home exercises to stretch your Achilles tendon and plantar fascia are the mainstay of treating the condition and lessening the chance of recurrence.

In one exercise, you lean forward against a wall with one knee straight and heel on the ground. Your other knee is bent. Your heel cord and foot arch stretch as you lean. Hold for 10 seconds, relax and straighten up. Repeat 20 times for each sore heel.

In the second exercise, you lean forward onto a countertop, spreading your feet apart with one foot in front of the other. Flex your knees and squat down, keeping your heels on the ground as long as possible. Your heel cords and foot arches will stretch as the heels come up in the stretch. Hold for 10 seconds, relax and straighten up. Repeat 20 times.

OK, after typing in the e-mail address, I always check it to verify that it is correct, co I looked up Plantar Fasciitis, I have a very similar problem, but instead of the heal, its the ball of both feet and all the toes. The pain is so bad I think that I may go out of my mind. My doctor put me on Cilostat, which is for restless leg syndrome, it gives me some relief sometime, you just have to take it 2 hours before or after a meal, if you don't schedule it just right, it won't work

The definitive treatment for plantar fasciitis is to go to a podiatrist and get specially made insoles for the shoes you wear the most. Within 3 weeks or so the difference is amazing.

I had this problem when I broke my leg....after it healed I had a problem with Plantar Fasciitis and found that to relive the pressure on the heal either I had to wear flats with a custion or wear shoes that had a heal to take the pressure off the heal and put it more on the ball of the foot. It will take time for that to heal, mine took about 8 months Good luck

Well, you could have custom orthotics made, but if that's too expensive, you can try something called "Halo Heel". I found these when I was in Florida at Walmart, I think. My husband has plantar fascitis and had heel spurs and he said that the Halo Heels were the best at easing the pain.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if there is a cure for it. I have it right now. What I do is have an arch support in my shoe and it helps out a lot. Rest, Rest, and Rest, elevate your foot when you lie down. I found that Ice doesn't work, for me it made the pain worse. Take iboprofen as well to ease the pain. Hope this helps.

Hi there,
I don't have any cure for it because there is no cure unless you operate on it and cut it off (that's what I was told) but the good news is that within 5 or 6 months the pain will go away and that's a fact because it happened to me.So my advise is hold on! it gets better and you will be able to walk normally again.
It really helped me to massage the heel every night and morning for a few minutes.
also, if you are often on your feet , try lifting yourself on your toes, hold, then down ,and repeat this for about 10 times .

I had it several years ago. The Dr. told me to get heel cups. That cured it. Now I use gel shoe inserts, it hasn't returned.
