BASS Fisherman's advice is great. Thats what i use for bass most of the time.

For bluegill use a wax worm, nightcrawler, or earth worm

For crappie

-Use a small bright color deep diving crankbait in deep water. If there are any monster crappie, they will go after this.

-Use a 2 inch bright color grub

-use a small white spinnerbait and fish it slowly in deep water

-real worms - use these and let them go to the bottom, and reel slowly every 5 second and stop for 5 seconds

Well that depends on" WHERE" your fishing. NC has Trout waters that are single hook artificial, and Fly only water. So you need a regulations book to read up on for those places . They give you one when you buy a liscence or go to this site..

http://www.ncwildlife.org/fs_index_03_fishing.htm

Now I dont use a fly rod much so I use a crappie jig to catch trout with it is a single hook artificial and works amazing for trout I use brown or black . And have tried the plastic one to they are ok you can get them in a miniature spring lizard/ salamander,

Now for Bass I like a Purple rubber worm in the spring and other stuff later in the year like buzz baits, crankbaits etc.

Different lures work better in different lakes but a purple worm seems to work anywhere .

Hope this helps

Shad imitating lipless crankbaits such as a Rattlin' Rap or Rat-L-Trap can be used successfully by bank fisherman or boaters. They have a very long history of catching large numbers of fish and quite often some good sized ones. Chrome/blue or black back in 1/2 oz size are hard to beat.
Anything fish in a feeding attitude is likely to eat this bait and it invokes good reaction bites as well. Just keep it "ticking" the tops of the grass and rip it free when you feel resistance. Chances are you have just hooked a decent fish.
