It could be that alcohol raises your body temperature. The redness you are seeing on your neck is called an "erythema" ie localised redenning of the skin which happens when the body becomes hot and blood moves to nearer the surface of the skin to cool down. Does it happen at other times or only when you drink alcohol? Does it itch? If it doesn't itch I doubt it's an allergy. Just your body temperature rising.

When you drink alcohol an enzyme in the liver converts to an acid that metabolizes to carbon dioxide which causes flushing usually in the face and neck...most common in people of Asian decent.
There isn't anything that can prevent it beside not ingesting alcohol.

It might have something to do with your body temperature going up or could be an allergic reaction. You better go to the doctor to determine what really is the problem. If it is an allergic reaction, he might give you some tests to determine what your allergic to (i.e. skin testing). As for now that you don't know what it is you are allergic to yet, i suggest that you stop alcohol intake before your problem gets worse. Allergic reactions can be more than just itchiness, swelling and redness. Given more amount of the irritant, it can be life-threatening.

sounds like you may have an intolerance to whatever you are drinking. If you want to drink, try something else, however you may just be intolerant to alcohol
